Incident Update: Bybit Statement Regarding Service Outage on July 22

On July 22 between 3:30PM and 4:44PM UTC, Bybit experienced a significant disruption in service affecting our website, app and some API users. The issue has since been solved and all systems and services are back online.

The root cause of the disruption was a temporary glitch with our CDN vendor. No customer funds were at risk during the entire episode. Following the incident, Bybit immediately triggered business continuity plans while taking steps to work with our vendor to prevent further such occurrences. 

The CTO of Bybit, Owen Zhuang, said:

“Bybit has grown faster than even our most optimistic plans. While this is a testament to the resilience and attractiveness of the platform, the latest outage has highlighted the need to do more. We seek to provide the best possible experience for all our customers, including those who haven’t joined us yet. Immediately after fixing the issue, we have taken steps and committed significant resources for a comprehensive upgrade of our systems. The results of our work should become visible very soon.” 

“Bybit has always served our customers with a reliable, highly liquid and practical exchange platform. We acknowledged an external issue with our CDN provider caused us to fail to deliver on that promise for a brief, but still notable moment on July 22. This is not acceptable for our quality standards, and I guarantee that our technology stack will undergo all the upgrades necessary to keep it operating at full speed,” added Ben Zhou, CEO of Bybit.
